Kate’s story
I grew up on a coffee farm in the mountains of the Dominican Republic. Our family’s farm, Spirit Mountain Coffee Company, has consistently produced top quality coffees. My experience is like no other and I want to share it with you.
My journey in the coffee industry is a testament to my passion for cultivating a specialty coffee experience and my dedication to the craft. Growing up on a 350-acre coffee farm in the Dominican Republic, I gained invaluable knowledge and skills in harvesting and processing coffee. This early exposure fueled my fascination with the world of specialty coffee.
After moving to New York City to study dance, I immersed myself in the specialty coffee scene, building a strong network within the industry. I started to compete in latte art throw downs, which led to multiple victories, particularly in the alternative milk field, showcasing my commitment to excellence.
I’ve participated in multiple Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) events, including a collaboration with Faema at the Boston SCA event, which further solidified my expertise and passion for the art of coffee.
Embracing the opportunity to work with Irving Farms in NYC, I excelled as a barista in a high-volume, specialty coffee shop on the Upper West Side.
In 2020, I embarked on my roasting career, starting at a small coffee shop in Idaho Springs (Colorado) before finding my way to Mango Tree in Englewood, CO, where I currently live. My dedication to providing a distinctive coffee experience to every customer radiates positive energy and fosters an atmosphere of growth.
My love for coffee goes beyond my individual journey; I collaborates closely with my family to bring the finest quality coffee from the mountains of the Dominican Republic to coffee shops worldwide, ensuring that every sip reflects the rich heritage and expertise of my family's coffee farm.
With a profound commitment to specialty coffee and an unwavering dedication to excellence, I desire to leave an indelible mark on the industry, one cup at a time.
